I was just reading Iran has a right to nuclear arms, and thought to myself, "well if the Shahanshah was around, we would probably have gone down the nuclear power way."
One of the theories that, as a student, we used to throw around in the pub, was that the powers that be, allowed what looked like very innocent, pious looking Ayatollah, to do what he did, because he was not going to be so modern.
Little did the power that be know, that this character, and his descendants, were hell bent on "sorting out" the world according to some Shiite idealism (you know the 12th Imam etc etc). Talking about going from bad to worse, that is exactly what has happened.
But I have always said, all that the mullahs in power have to do, is to say that they will never "wipe Israel off the map" just like India and Pakistan have. Israel has no plan to strike India or Pakistan. And in the times of the Shahanshah, Good Iran did not have any plans to wipe Israel off the map.
So it is all a bit silly really. The whole nuclear scenario can be resolved if the right things are said. But they are not saying it. And the good reason for that must be the connection to oil. Neither India or Pakistan are major oil producers, and they cannot be invloved with making comments about nuclear threats to anyone, so that the oil price is driven higher.
In a clandestine way, UBL's recent comments out of Pakistan, can be viewed as threatening and therefore raise the oil temperature, but even his recent comments, about getting rid of the Pakistan President, did nothing to the price of oil.
So in conclusion the oil companies and governments, that try to conjure up some amazing scenarios, to raise the oil prices, are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel, to come up with new hysteria.

Good Iran has a right to nuclear arms
I was just reading Iran has a right to nuclear arms, and thought to myself, "well if the Shahanshah was around, we would probably have gone down the nuclear power way."
