Thank you Twitter!! As part of it's celebrations for it's 8th birthday, Twitter has made available the possibility to check out any tweet in history including looking at the first ever tweets of some famous people. For Astrologers though, the first ever tweet at 20:50 in San Francisco on 21st March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, one of co-founders of Twitter is obviously the one to be interested in as it gives me an exact moment to set up an Astrology chart for the company.
This chart has Uranus the planet of the internet and of social interaction and Mercury the planet of communication and the media sitting quite naturally in a neat conjunction making a trine to Jupiter in the 1st house showing the ability to connect with the globe. The conjunction also makes a square to Mars in Gemini in the 8th house. This is a combination that needs to communicate all the time and it lies in a house with infinite possibilities and with a connection to big business as well. The chart has Saturn in Leo conjunct the Midheaven from the 9th house of publishing, so brevity is the name of the game !!
The site was always going to be successful with the Sun in a close conjunction with the North Node and also sitting at the Aries Point (conjunct to the initial degree of a cardinal sign) a place of fame and notoriety. The Moon and Pluto in conjunction in Sagittarius in the 2nd house shows a very intensely sociable side to the website in connecting with people and with friends, it connects it to big money and it ensures a vice like grip over Twitter's finances and property is promised as well.
There is much idealism here with Venus conjunct Neptune in Aquarius in the 4th house, they sit in the foundation of the chart and this conjunction is trine to that 8th house Mars. The basic premise would have been to provide a creative and innovative social media site with a gentle and compassionate identity. In this the founders certainly succeeded, and I guess the idea of communicating in just 140 words via the internet was very progressive and revolutionary at the beginning reflecting the position of these two planets in Aquarius; it has definitely become very socially acceptable now. It would imagine that Twitter is much loved because of this trine to Mars, and my impression is that it is seen as the ideal and archetypal social media site.
