Oxymoronic Democracies
I read Squaring Islam With Democracy, and I wonder how people such as Jim Hoagland, can forget the most elementary lesson in politics. You do not mix religion with politics. How can JH say:
It is possible to reconcile democracy, Islam, peaceful coexistence with Israel and good governance. Turkey and Morocco are examples of countries making significant progress on these fronts.
At some point the die-hard Islamists are going to go all the way, and there will have to be a UN resolution banning theocratic democracies. Once that is done, and UN declares that only democracies based on Human Rights are legit, then the world will not have to worry theocratic democracies, which is an oxymoron.
